Visiting Parma with Vip Limousine Milan and a private driver

Parma: the new Italian Capital of Culture 2020
Visiting Parma is always a joy for the eyes and the palate. The history of past eras merges with a centuries-old tradition dedicated to food and wine.
This city is famous all over the world for its excellences, such as Parma Ham and Parmigiano Reggiano. This is the reason why Parma is considered by many to be the cradle of the food valley: therefore it is not a coincidence that the European Food Safety Authority (Efsa) is based in Parma.
The 2020 promises to be a year full of events in Parma. In Vip Limousine Milan, we have already had the pleasure of talking about Parma and its artistic beauties in our previous article. Today we want to honor this city easily accessible with our luxury cars driven by professional chauffeurs.
Parma events: a year full of emotions
Visiting Parma in 2020 means immersing yourself in a world of culture, shows, food, wine and history. The drivers of Vip Limousine Milan will accompany you to the places that made Parma famous all over the world and you will understand why its inhabitants know the city with a very particular appellation: little Paris.
The events that will take place in Parma during 2020 will not all be held in the historic city center, but many of them will take place throughout the province, starting from the nearby Apennines to the banks of the Great River, the Po. Having a luxury car at your disposal with private driver you can enjoy the Parma itineraries, admire the natural landscape and how, between one wheat field and another, ancient churches and majestic abbeys arise.
The Parma 2020 program is too large and full of appointments to be reported here. We will therefore just list some of Parma events that are shaping up to be inevitable!
Four exhibitions for the Monumental Complex of Pilotta
In 2020 the Monumental Complex of Pilotta will host four exhibitions.
The first one is already underway and focuses on the painting “Adoration of the Magi” by the famous artist Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn. The painting arrived in Parma thanks to a fruitful agreement with the Hermitage Museum of St. Petersburg and will be viewable until January 26, 2020.
The Piazzale della Pilotta is currently hosting another major permanent work. Along the entire perimeter of the courtyard of San Pietro in Pilotta there is a 190 meters long writing features 55 Murano glass letters illuminated by blue lights. This is the largest permanent work ever made by Maurizio Nannucci in Italy. “Time Past And Time Present Are Both Perhaps Present In Time Future”: this is the text reproduced by Nannucci and it is taken from a composition of T. S. Eliot.
The third exhibition will open its doors on March 1st 2020 and it is entitled “Theatrum Mundi”. Its purpose is to make the works preserved in the Monumental Complex of Pilotta dialogue with the contemporary creations of the artist Fornasetti.
The fourth exhibition will be open to the public until the end of January 2021 and it is entirely dedicated to the Farnese family. This noble dynasty greatly influenced Parma, its traditions, its culture and its economy. Thanks to this event, there will be numerous Farnese artifacts that will arrive in Parma, thus adding to those that have always been present in Emilia. The purpose of the event is to analyze how the Farnese family have grasped the importance of art as a means of dynastic affirmation.

Nature and food valley by bike

In preparation for Parma 2020, the Emilian city has created a long cycle path that takes bicycle lovers to the lower Parma area (the areas close to the Po river). Along this route there are also some stops where it will be possible to deepen the themes that characterize the Emilian food valley.
Starting from Parma railway station, the cycle path proceeds in the direction of Sorbolo Mezzani (located in the north) with some small and tasty stops:
- visit to the Barilla factory;
- tasting some cheese at the Bassa Est Parmense Dairy which is part of the Parmigiano Reggiano Consortium;
- tasting pasta with tomato and parmesan in Sorbolo;
- in Coenzo you can visit the Casa delle Contadinerie (a special museum where you will discover the life of the past centuries in the province of Parma);
- visit to the Parma Morta Nature Reserve, the Po River Culture Center and the River Tourist Port. There will be a tasting of the “anolino in brodo” (a typical handmade pasta with broth).
The end of the cycle path is located in Colorno, a wonderful town famous for its royal palace, one of the numerous residences of the Duchess of Parma Maria Luigia, Napoleon’s wife.
Spring is the best season to take that path and to enjoy the Emilian nature. You can rent a bike in Parma and your personal driver will wait for you in Colorno!
Castles of the Duchy of Parma and Piacenza: the history told by the Ambassadors of the Territory

If you decide to enjoy the Po Valley, or to go to the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines for a breath of fresh air , you will not be tied to public transport, but thanks to the professional drivers of Vip Limousine Milan you can go wherever you want and stop anywhere for as long as you want.
Parma is certainly a beautiful city, but the numerous castles, palaces and fortresses scattered beyond its walls are beautiful too. The Duchy of Parma and Piacenza is an ancient territory in which important noble families, knights, landowners and foreign influences have alternated for centuries.
The trace of this illustrious past lies in the perfectly preserved buildings that still stand in defense of a past glory.
For the whole year, the Ambassadors of the Territory will accompany tourists to discover the history behind each castle. Thanks to them you will discover the daily life of noble families, their traditions, their power and the legends that still hover over these manors.
