From Vinitaly in Verona to Tuscan Maremma

During the 2017 edition of Vinitaly, from 9th to 12th April, in the historic seat of Verona Fiere, were presented reassuring numbers for the wine market, preferences and expectations for a wine future of quality, intended to be appreciated in the whole world.

Among the most representative figures of a natural style we want to present you the associazione Vignaioli e Territori Vi.Te. (association of winemakers and territories), which gathers winemakers who “follow their wineyards and preserve their wine”.

We will start outside the geographical borders of Maremma, from the Gulf of Baratti, located in a quiet wooded coast, on a promontory facing the Tuscan Archipelago. This is the place where the Etruscan, at first, and Roman, later, aristocracy used to build their homes and the most monumental temples, thermal baths and sacred places.

The southern part of Tuscany is the territory of the Etruscan civilization, and in the whole area the necropolis and the ancient village of Populonia are the most suggestive. Etruscans did not use the money for the trades, at least up to the sixth century B.C.

They mainly used the barter of goods, from  which comes, indeed, the name Gulf of Baratti (the Italian word baratti means in fact barters)

In the town of Follonica, in the Golf Club Toscana, with its 15 and 18 golf courses, you can enjoy a relaxing panorama towards the Colline Metallifere, places of the old ferrous metal mines. In the resort Cordial Hotel & Golf Resort Pelagone, you can taste the dishes and the best wines of the Tuscan cuisine.

In this region, the mainly cultivated grapes are San Giovese and Chianti. The most titled wines: Brunello di Montalcino and the wine Nobile di Montepulciano.

The thermal spring reminds the worship of Saturn, divinity of abundance, who, furious with men and wars, threw on earth a lightning: the lukewarm sulfurous water gush and this water reconciled the world.

After enjoying the delights of Maremma, a visit at the Parco dell’Uccellina, in the territory of Alberese, allows you to watch herds of cattle of Maremma breeding, living in the semi-wild and looked after by the Butteri, herdsmen with eroic character, who nowadays keep alive many of the old rural traditions of Maremma.

The Butteri still perform equestrian shows evocating a work so alive even if on the way to extinction.

After the horses of Maremma, a magical, surreal, amazing place: il Giardino dei Tarocchi, in the town of Capalbio.

Il Giardino dei Tarocchi is an artistic park, created in the Eighties by the ideas of the artist Niki de Sain Phalle, who took his inspiration from the famous Park Guell by Antoni Gaudi in Barcelona.

The park was then enlarged and enriched with the interventions of various artists and architects, such as Mario Botta or Rigo Weber, just to name a few.

The Eclecticism here triumphs in every corner of the garden and the imposing sculptures, the dreamlike, enigmatic itineraries give amazing sensations mixing spirituality, art, nature.
