Get ready for the holidays, give up the stress of suitcases!
Live out your holiday preparations with a few simple tricks
Summer seems to have officially arrived in Italy as well as the thoughts go to the holidays. Even in times like these characterized by the ever-present Coronavirus emergency, many are those who wonder if and how it will be possible to go on holiday.
Today, however, we want to be optimistic and think that we can really go on holiday and discover the Italian beauties that we too often take for granted. Do you want some ideas? Read our article dedicated to art during the Coronavirus emergency!
In years of activity, we at Vip Limousine Milan had the pleasure to meet many tourists and many of them often complained about having forgotten something important at home: unfortunately, it was too late!
The worst moment? Pack your bags! Following a few small tips, however, you can live this moment serenely and forget the stress of preparations. So here are a few tips that might help you to manage your journey without stress.
Find out more information about your destination: weather and recommended excursions
As superfluous or silly as it may seem, we assure you that being informed about your destination will help you better understand what to take with you and what to leave at home.
Among the information we advise you to collect is the weather forecast, well aware that it can always change. Although the weather forecast is now quite reliable, remember that in the mountains the weather can change from one moment to the next, so it's a good idea to get organized!
Another aspect that we recommend you to go into is hiking. Just because you book your stay in a specific location doesn't mean you have to stay there all the time. Find out if there are places of interest nearby that are worth visiting and if they require special clothing.
What outfits do you want to take with you?
After checking the weather forecast, start selecting the outfits you want with you that are in line with the weather forecast and the chosen location.
If, for example, you want to go to the mountains, you could avoid wearing flip-flops and sundresses: rather, favour more practical and comfortable clothing!
But be careful: don't pack anything! At this time you simply select the things you want to take with you, including underwear. We advise you to put the chosen items in a tired room or on your desk and leave them there, putting them back in your suitcase.
Why should you wait? First of all, if you pack the items too early, you may risk crumpling them and ruining them. Second, when you select outfits you are always prone to taking more than you actually need. We open the drawers one after the other, notice a T-shirt we like and take it, then we see that sweater we can't do without and we take it: we take everything we like without too many brakes and, in a short time, we "selected" the whole wardrobe!
Selection of medicines: leave with everything you need!
Even if you are going on holiday, you must be prepared to deal with any discomfort. This doesn't mean that you have to take a miniature pharmacy with you, but you have to take what you might need and that you use more often.
Do you want some examples? Anti-inflammatories and painkillers, usually, are never lacking and are very versatile: make sure you pack the articles you use most often and, above all, those medicines you use for which a prescription is compulsory.
If you go to the beach, it would be good to have with you, in addition to sun creams, also products able to prevent and treat heat strokes and burns. Be careful, however, that the sun does not forgive even in the mountains, so arm yourself with sun creams even if you are planning some trips to the mountains: in this case also provide creams for muscle pain and slight sprains.
Consider carefully which medications to take with you in your suitcase. In general, we prefer those in common use, those related to pre-existing diseases and those that could solve any problems that may arise while travelling.
Obviously you don't need to have everything, but it's good to take your basic medicines with you!
Hand luggage: how to prepare it?
No matter what kind of transport you use for your holiday, you will always have a hand luggage in addition to your classic suitcase. In this small luggage, usually a handy backpack that is also useful during the holidays, we recommend that you include everything you might need during your trip and, in general, the most important things.
Smartphones, tablets and PCs must always travel by your side so as not to lose sight of them: in the same way your wallet, travel documents, any reservations and maybe something to pass the time like a good book. Make sure you have all the necessary documents: if in doubt, check again!
If you're planning to travel by plane, one more advice: always put some clothes in your hand luggage, so if your suitcase gets lost you'll have a change waiting for your luggage to be returned!
Let's pack everything, but not before another selection!
The last thing to do is to fill the suitcase so as not to ruin your precious outfits! But before you throw everything in, make a second selection. Every time you pick up a shirt or t-shirt, ask yourself if you really need it or if, on the contrary, you can do without it.
If you're going to the beach, for example, you'll spend most of your time in swimwear, so there's no point in wearing more outfits than you can wear. Just select the outfits that best match each other, so you can create different outfits with just a few items of clothing!
The same goes for shoes too: a comfortable pair and, if you think it's necessary, one a bit more elegant but always in line with the holiday you've booked! These small precautions will prevent you from carrying an excessively heavy suitcase.
